Our premises are based in Milton Keynes, a vibrant and growing area known for its excellent transport links, schools, and recreational facilities. This location is easily accessible and offers ample free parking. Our modern office provides a comfortable working environment and is conveniently close to local amenities.

Our Operations Division also operates from this base, travelling to various sites across the UK. Given the team-oriented nature of our work, our engineers often share vehicles, utilising the company’s fleet to ensure efficient and eco-friendly transport. This approach helps us minimise emissions and deliver materials and manpower to sites effectively.

As we provide services nationwide, our engineers sometimes stay away from home for periods ranging from 2 to 6 days, with all expenses covered. However, this is not a permanent arrangement. Working with us means being part of a community that values work-life balance and personal development, with the flexibility to meet the demands of projects across the country.

Commercial Plumbing and Heating Engineer
Type: Full-time

Salary: 40k a year

We are looking for a permanent full-time Commercial Plumbing & Heating Engineer to join our existing busy team!

If you are an experienced and competent Plumbing & Heating Engineer who likes a variety of work predominantly in the commercial arena, then this could be the role for you. We are looking for an Engineer who already possesses a good skill set and qualifications, but would also like to continue their professional development within our company. We need an engineer who is adaptable to the job type and ready for a challenge, as we work with a range of clients in a domestic, commercial, and industrial capacity. Typical jobs would include maintenance and installation of pipework, drainage, sanitaryware, and general plumbing components, plant room refurbishments, installations of water softeners, commercial boilers, office and warehouse fitouts.

We will also need you to have flexible working hours, as we do fulfil night shifts when requested by the client – hours are adjusted accordingly, and paid at time and a half. We also work with flexible hours to cater for any appointments or prior commitments you may have.

We are looking for somebody who possesses the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team and is wanting to embrace the values of MD Govier.

As well as a starting salary of £40,000, you will receive an annual bonus, be a part of our reward schemes, bonus scheme, receive health insurance, be a part of our Company events, have all work uniform provided, 21 day holiday entitlement + bank holidays, and have use of a Company vehicle and fuel card. All training and development is paid for (excluding use of Company vehicle) and all expenses are covered when working away, including: hotel, refreshments and travel. Most tooling is also provided.

As a Plumbing & Heating Engineer your tasks will include:
– Working at heights
– Assist the team and follow instructions from your line manager
– Following manuals, schematics, diagrams and blueprints to complete installations and repairs
– Installation of commercial gas boilers, pump sets, water softeners
– Maintenance and services of commercial gas systems
– Installation and maintenance of A/C systems
– Installing, maintaining and repairing pipework including joints, valves, drains and fixtures in all types of structures, including copper, cast iron, and PVC
– Coordinating with a General Contractor and other building professionals on a jobsite
– Following current rules and regulations related to plumbing and heating to ensure that systems pass inspection for the first time
– Keeping and maintaining records of time spent on a job and materials purchased for the work
– Responding to plumbing and heating emergencies, determining the issue and making a repair
– Performing regular maintenance of plumbing systems to prevent emergencies
– Report any additional/supplementary works to the administration team
– Maintain a high standard of customer service with good communication with all stakeholders
– Testing pipes by filling them with water or air and reading gauges to determine whether system is working accurately
– Install heating and air-conditioning systems, including water heaters

Your profile should aim to include:
– Good customer service skills: face to face, by phone and email
– Demonstrable and excellent communication skills
– Good organisation skills
– Able to work accurately and to deadlines
– Ability to collate and to produce reports for the management team
– Ability to act responsibly and to our health and safety standards and procedures
– Work well as a team member, but also receive instructions well and work independently
– Have knowledge of working with Apple products
– Possess understanding of design and methodology of electrical installations

– ACS Commercial Gas Qualifications
– NVQ Level 3 Plumbing and Heating Qualification
